Main clause/subordinate clause
Message from F)
Hello

What are the main clause ( principal ) and the subordinate clause in sentences start with:
It seems that.... \ it appears that .......\ it looks that ....\
It seems that we have missed our chance.
It seems that you are lying.
It seems that you did not know any English.

I read in one book or more than one book, they said [raising subject - or subject to subject raising]

So they it that ( the subordinate noun clauses ) are the subjects to these sentences ?
OK ! Where could be the main subject of the sentence ?
Is it not in the main clause ? So what is the main subject or what are principal clauses in the sentences I stated above ?

Please guide me to get out of this confusion.
Thank you in advance.

Re: Main clause/subordinate clause from E)
Hello
It seems that you did not know any English.
This question I already got the answer

I know the verb seem = linking verb and it takes subject complement

Some would say clause of that = the subject

I think it is not satisfying answer
It seems that .... it seems what

What thing seems ?

Noun clause Suppose we rewrite as :

That you did know any English, it seems \ seems ? No sense it does make ( ambiguous )
--------

It = the subject .... seems = the main verb
That clause = complement
